Everybody has an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to create new ideas that can mold and improve the world. Today, this spirit is more important than ever. To contend with the fast pace of change, budding entrepreneurs need to be extremely sharp and creative and able to make rapid, appropriate decisions both on a professional and a personal level.

Consequently, we view entrepreneurship as more than a career choice; rather, these days it is a type of necessary muscle for surviving in today’s world. Therefore, we invite you – students, researchers, administrative staff and alumni – to accrue practical knowledge, receive hands-on tools, and expand and refine your entrepreneurial spirit through contact with helpful entities within the university and industry. Students will substantially enrich their degrees by enhancing their ability to identify challenges and try to solve them – making them better prepared to face the world’s complexity after graduation.

To this end, Hebrew University’s HUJI-Innovate offers:

  • Accelerator programs for initiatives

  • Academic courses and study programs about entrepreneurship

  • A community and culture of entrepreneurship

Success Stories

Kinoko

Kinoko is a start-up that developed an innovative process to produce alternative protein made from mushrooms, legumes and grains that is high-quality, ecological and tasty. The company was established as part of Facultech – the entrepreneurship club of Hebrew University’s Faculty of Agriculture. Joining HUJI-Innovate’s flagship program, OPEN, was the catalyst which enabled the initiative to develop from an idea into a real company. From that point on it was a short path to raising seed money from the JVP venture capital fund and NIS 2.5 million from the Israel Innovation Authority. Kinoko is just starting out, but its journey is already extremely impressive!

Seeniors

Loneliness is a huge problem among senior citizens, especially these days. An excellent way to help reduce this problem is to improve digital literacy, especially the ability to use smartphones. Seeniors is a company that develops courses for teaching older people how to use smartphones. Since it was established, over 2,000 elderly citizens have already used their platform to learn how to use email, WhatsApp, Google apps and Zoom. In addition to fighting loneliness, learning these skills also expands their horizons by enabling them to efficiently access information on the internet.

Seeniors was accepted to the first cycle of OPEN as part of the track for developing social initiatives, in partnership with the Student Union. HUJI-Innovate will continue supporting and nurturing Seeniors, together with numerous community centers as well as local and international media.
