Guidelines for Expressing Opinions and Ideas in the Hebrew University Community

Haim Sompolinsky

As an institution of higher education, the Hebrew University is committed, as a matter of principle, to promoting open dialogue and critical thinking and avoiding restrictions of freedom of speech. This approach applies to all community members.

This stand places significant responsibility on each-and-every one of us to carefully consider the positions we choose to express publicly and the way we do so. It is imperative that we all consider the potential consequences of our statements and how they might affect fellow community members and our individual and group relations.

With this in mind, please see the document before you which outlines the guidelines for all members of the University community when publicly expressing their position on current affairs.

Together, we will be able to strengthen the University’s community, its cohesion and prosperity.
