Hebrew University Preparatory Program (Mechina)

Instead of spending unnecessary time and money on improving your matriculation grades, consider enrolling in our preparatory program ("mechina" in Hebrew). This program is designed for students with partial or low matriculation grades—and even for those without a matriculation certificate—offering a direct pathway to University admission. The mechina certificate serves as an enhanced substitute for the matriculation certificate, providing preferential admission conditions, including a reduced psychometric score requirement compared to what would be needed for an equivalent matriculation grade average. Additionally, the mechina offers excellent academic preparation for future degree studies, equipping you with essential academic skills and tools that matriculation improvement courses cannot offer.

Mechina students also enjoy a variety of benefits, such as tuition scholarships and living stipends (subject to eligibility), discounted preparatory courses for psychometric score improvement, academic support through supplementary lessons and mentorship (for eligible students), and accommodations for those with learning disabilities. Throughout your journey, our dedicated professional staff will support you, offering consultation and guidance from the application stage to the completion of your degree.

Hebrew University Haredi Preparatory School (Mechina)

The Mechina program for graduates of Haredi education is specifically designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for admission to the most competitive departments at the University, including medicine, computer science, law, psychology, and more. This 18-month program requires no prior academic background, and throughout this period, we thoroughly prepare students for degree studies at the Hebrew University.

The certificate awarded by the mechina acts as a substitute for a matriculation certificate and is given preferential consideration for admissions to the Hebrew University. It is also recognized by all higher education institutions across Israel. Approximately 90% of mechina graduates are successfully admitted directly into degree programs at the Hebrew University.

Mechina students benefit from a comprehensive support system, which includes individual mentoring, supplementary lessons, and ongoing guidance throughout their studies. Classes are held separately for men and women in a specially designated building near the Hebrew University’s Mount Scopus campus in Jerusalem.
