Glossary

 

Alternative course: A course with identical content to a course taught in a different program and which has a different serial number.

Condition for passing a course: A passing grade - can vary from course to course.

Course requirements: Assignments that must be completed in order to successfully complete the course.

Degree term: Number of years during which one must complete the academic program, as defined in advance.

Extending studies: Studies that extend beyond the maximum number of years defined for the academic program. 

Extra courses: Courses that are not included in the degree.

Notebook scans: Every exam notebook is scanned and uploaded to the student’s personal digital file after it is checked.

Overhead: Extra payment in addition to tuition.

Overlapping courses: Courses that are taught at the same time on the same day.

Prerequisites: Conditions that must be met in order to register for the course.

Security fee: A mandatory payment to cover security costs.

Semesters: First semester, second semester, summer semester - a pre-defined period of studies in the academic calendar.

Stored courses: Graduate degree courses that were completed during undergraduate studies and are not included in the undergraduate degree.

Teacher evaluation: A teacher satisfaction survey aimed at improving the quality and level of teaching.

Thawed courses: Stored courses for which one can receive credit for a graduate (Master’s) degree.

Tuition balance: Payment that complements the tuition base for the degree according to years.

Welfare fee: An optional payment that funds student welfare services.
