Nobel Prize

Nobel Prizes are awarded every year in keeping with the will of Alfred Nobel, who invented dynamite. They are awarded to people or organizations every 10th of December for outstanding research, inventions or contributions to society.

Eight Nobel Prizes have been awarded to scientists and academics associated with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Wolf Prize

The Wolf Prize is considered the second most important international award after the Nobel Prize. Over 30% of Wolf Prize laureates later received the Nobel Prize in fields that are common to both prizes. Since 1978, five Wolf Prizes have been awarded every year in Agriculture, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Medicine and one of the Arts. The prize is awarded to outstanding scientists and artists, for achievements in the interest of humankind and friendly relations among peoples, regardless of nationality, race, religion, gender or political views. The prize is $100,000.
